Lashinbang Nagoya Shop Tour
Hello everyone and welcome back to Tiro Finale! Having done hobby shop tours of both Mandarake and Jungle in Nagoya, it is finally time for us to take a look at Lashinbang's store. Like Mandarake, Lashinbang is another big player in the hobby re-seller market. They are hard to miss because unlike, Mandarake, Lashibang outlets are available in almost every major town around Japan. Their stores often vary in size in proportion to the population density of the location and in a place like Nagoya, you can be certain the shop is a pretty sizable one too.
Around the time of my visit, Lashinbang were also happening to have their Autumn sales which made it a perfect time for me to visit. But, you would not have to wait for it to be a sales period just to visit your local Lashinbang store as they often have a bargain segment where you can find all sorts of goodies.
Step into the store and you are greeted immediately with Lashinbang's familiar interior design and color scheme. White and blue with open shelves and individual register booths, Lashinbang's design is a tried and tested one. With maximum visibility and efficient check out procedures, this makes shopping at any Lashinbang outlet a breeze even when the number of customers pick up during peak periods in major stores like those in Akihabara. Another nice touch that the Nagoya store has are the notably wider aisles which make browsing that much more comfortable. Two thumbs up!
Earlier I mentioned that the Autumn Sales and whilst rummaging through the sales goods, I came across a whole heap of Mami merchandise that I genuinely was not expecting to find. The best part were the steep discounts the store was offering with all of the Madoka Magica merchandise having a 50% or more discount. It just so happened, I had been looking for this particular Mami and Nagisa wallet for a while. To get it brand new at 1,000 Yen is just a steal!
Aside from the wallet, I also came across several cool Mami and Nagisa B2 tapestries. I was well aware of these Aniplex licensed tapestries but, the selling price of 3,000 Yen always put me off. Fortunately for me, they were now half off and selling for just 1,500 Yen.
While I would need to find space to hang up these two large B2 tapestries, the price of 1,500 Yen each was just too hard to pass up on. Not to mention, both tapestries could actually be lined up side by side to make a complete picture.
Just when I though there would be no more Mami merchandise, I dug a little further and came across this set of Mami and Nagisa sheets. Also heavily discounted, I grabbed one and placed it into my shopping cart. As the sales section was located right at the entrance of the store, this meant I already had a full shopping cart a few steps after entering the store. I wonder what the rest of the store has to offer?
Lashinbang is consistently, and my personal recommendation, for getting anime/manga related tapestry, posters and general art. Lashinbang Nagoya was no exception as I spotted these three Monogatari canvas prints in pristine condition. Not only are these canvas prints normally pretty hard to find but, Lashinbang was selling them at a very reasonable price. Where you would normally expect to pay around 4,000 Yen for them, these are considerably cheaper.
What I did not expect to find was the recently released Good Smile Company, Lancer Altria Pendragon. This was the first time I laid my eyes on the box of this phenomenal figure and, trust me, it is absolutely humongous! Having seen the actual production figure, this is one figure I am sure is worth every last Yen that Good Smile is asking for.
Of course, it need not always be the super premium things which catch out attention. How about this equally rare prize figure of Hakase (Professor) from Nichijou? At an asking price of 1,650 Yen, this may seem steep for a prize figure but the fact that Nichijou figures often demand a premium in the re-sellers market makes this an absolute steal.
No hobby store in this time and age would be worth their salt without a dedicated plush section of course. Surprisingly enough, a good proportion of my plush deals have often comes from Mandarake or Lashinbang. You never know what they might stock. From the garden variety Mega Jumbo Nesoberi to the event limited ones, they are all there and all sold at reasonable prices.
Case in point, this huge plush of Kotori's little bird plush. It may look like a simple white bird plush to most passer-bys but, fans of the original Love Live series would know just how valuable this bird is.
Take a look at the bottom of the pile and you are greeted with several Monogatari series plush toys. These are not only fairly rare but also very collectible as they were only made for a short period of time. As a result, they often demand a very high price. It is not unusual to see a Shinobu going for 3,000 Yen and above. Even at those prices, they are supposedly considered to be cheap.
You obviously cannot have a figure section with an idol section and Lashinbang Nagoya is no slouch in that department either with one entire aisle dedicated to the Love Live series. Everything from prize figures, scale figure and premium figures are all for sale and neatly organized.
If you are a fan of another idol series then fret not, as there is a dedicated aisle for Idolmaster too. With the almost everlasting popularity of idols in the industry, it is hard not to see why there are dedicated sections just for them. Moreover, it is also quite a sight to behold too.
As we move further into the store, we come across the section selling the miscellaneous items such as rubber straps, trinkets and acrylic character stands all neatly organized according to series. Next to that, we have the media section featuring goods such as music CDs, Blu-Rays, manga and doujins. This particular Lashinbang even has an R18 section that is largely reserved for doujin.
The rear end of the store seemed to be particularly vacant which made me think they would reserve some space for time limited events such as pop up stores. This thought came to mind as I saw these old Halloween Madoka Magica cardboard cutouts just left in a quiet corner of the store. How I wish they would allow me to take the Mami and Bebe one.
Having got the things that I wanted, I headed to the register for an extremely smooth check out procedure and was even given a free Umaibo. Because of the discounts, I ended up spending much less than I expected yet came away with a tonne of new Mami merchandise.
Before I come to the end of this shop tour, I just have to quickly point out that Lashinbang Nagoya has probably one of the cooler entrances for a hobby store ever with two large screens playing the company's PV on loop. Of course, these screens are not exclusive for Lashinbang and shared with other tenants of this building but, when it does come on, it just looks really cool and you would certainly not miss it if you were ever looking for the stores. The next time you are down in Nagoya, make sure you pay a visit to Lashinbang Nagoya! For our next and final Nagoya article, I will be wrapping up any extras that I did not manage to fit into our coverage thus far. In the meantime, if you have any questions do not hesitate to leave them in the comments section below. Until the next time, thank you so much for reading and have yourself a wonderful day ahead!
