My Summer Wonder Festival 2017: Part 2

Hello everyone and welcome to Part 2 of our Summer Wonder Festival 2017 coverage here on Tiro Finale. In case you have not had the chance to read the first part, you can check it out right here. Otherwise, let is get straight into things with the highlights of this second and last part being Good Smile Company, Sega and several other small companies.

Good Smile Company
Good Smile Company has traditionally had the largest presence in Wonder Festival and this year was no different.

One thing that many fans, myself included, look forward to is the board of new figure released that GSC puts up on every WonFes. While a large majority of these announcements did not come as too much of a surprise. They were still a number of rather interesting ones.

This year, the scale figure list populated almost half of the entire list. This is not to say that scale figures are becoming more popular. Rather, the Nendoroid and Figma series are so popular worldwide currently that any and all future releases have already been revealed/teased on the internet and by GSC no less. Still, it is nice to see that Akari from San-gatsu no Lion is getting a scale figure.

I already knew about her Nendoroid and Figma release but, it was great to see that Tanya would be getting a scale figure too. This time, it will be handled by Souyoku Sha, one of GSC's latest companies.

Aside from figures, GSC's music arm was also present. I took this opportunity to purchase a pair of Kotori loves. 101 x Love Live pair of headphones.

No self-respecting booth would not have a figure of Rem and this was the Birthday Version of Rem. I wonder how many more derivatives of her can they think of?

The upcoming Nendoroid, these are the ones which have been finalized.

Asuna and Kirito's Ordinal Scale form was supposed to be a Wonder Festival exclusive sale hence, they sold out in 45 minutes after the event began. A few weeks later, GSC makes them available individually. So much for exclusivity.

Kemono Friends was still a very popular series and GSC was keen on cashing in on just that.

Proto-Excalibur?

A whole section dedicated to Bakuon figures and one stray vampire.

This figure of Rin has been out for a while, I wonder if GSC is planning a re-release.

The Figma series of figures have begun to become more experimental over the past year and this shows with their future releases taking characters from various media forms.

Bloodborne follows the tradition of the Dark Souls Figma figures which were showed in prior events.

Persona 5 is getting in on the action too.

The Love Live Sunshine Figma have been gradually rolling out.

A new project is on the horizon.

But, no additional information at the moment.

One of Dark Soul's most popular recurring character.

Nendoroid Mami Maiko version is due for release in September, those who have pre-ordered her will be getting her really soon.

With that, the entire collection is complete. I wonder what the next series of Madoka Magica Nendoroid will be?

The Little Amory catalogue has found its way onto Nendoroid form too.

More Nendoroid.

And even more Nendoroids. When you consider that GSC has over 800 variants, you can clearly tell that they have hit the gold mine with this series.

Hifumi is joining the Nendoroid ranks together with Aoba from New Game.

A new Shinobu sacle is planned for release too, the first new one in quite a while from GSC.

This year Max Factory was celebrating its 30th Anniversary.

Aside from scales, Max Factory is also responsible for the Figma series.

The FigFix series of Love Live figures are about to come full circle.

All that is left are Hanayo and Nico.

Senjougahara looks to be getting a FigFix as well.

Max Factory had a booth space for visitors to try out the new Nendoroid Face Maker as well as to build the plamo Max Watanabe.

GSC even has its own racing team so, why not bring out their Mercedes AMG GT?

Good Smile Racing has been racing with Mercedes makes for a while now. I wonder if they have any intentions to switch to a different make?

The biggest surprise for me came in the form of a new Racing Sonico, this time brandishing the Racing Miku 2016 outfit.

Needless to say, I was incredibly excite for this and I am really looking forward to adding this to the collection! She may still be in very early stages of development (judging from the seams and rough edges) and unpainted but, I certainly hold high hopes for the final product.

I have been told to check out the Re: Creators series out and with this many figures announced, something good must amount of it.

Tawawa on Monday!

Ai-chan's Nendoroid was made available for pre-order not long after WonFes ended.

Although, I do prefer Kouhai more. Notice the blue ink used?

That being said, the proportions are properly ridiculous.

Nendoroid Atlas and P-Body.

More Rem and Ram figures.

This was a personal intrigue of mine.

GSC has these scale GTR on pre-order recently and they were sold at a fairly reasonable price.

Here we get to see them in all the factory colors.

Including the Nismo versions.

Several Girls und Panzer Nendoroid rubber straps, likely in conjunction with the movies.
Sega
Yes, that is Iron Man Mark 43 from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Yes, it is a prize figure.

It took me a while to realize it because of how well the painting was done.

You already know what this is.

Which begs the question, should I even watch this show?

Hachikuji and Ononoki are getting prize figures too.

Hachikuji's soles have a snail pattern!

The quality of scale figures continue to improve, the only thing manufacturers have to work on next are the skin tones.

How many Rem figures is too many?

To be honest, I had lost track of the number of Rem figures that were showcased at this event.

Sega was even keen to show of its prototype Rem. Just in case, they had not showcased enough Rem figures yet.

Several Girls und Panzer prize figures were also on show, this time featuring swimsuits as the normal versions had already been released prior.

Although I do follow the Girls und Panzer series, trying to remember every character's name has proven to be rather tricky.

Love Live Sunshine prize figures in their school idol outfits and;

School uniforms in chibi form.

Sega were one of the first to produce prize figures for the Fate series and with the growing popularity of FGO, decided to bring out some of their earlier releases.

Nero had already been released back in June.

Tamamo no Mae was released back in June.

Many Miku prize figures especially since her anniversary was closing in this year.

There seems to be a never ending stream of Miku figures and I am sure even fans have at tough time keeping up.

The upcoming Christmas Aqours Nesoberi(s). Unlike usual releases, these are not arcade prizes and have to be pre-ordered. They retail for 4,000 Yen (before tax) and can be pre-ordered as of writing.

Several other Jumbo/Mega Nesoberi planned for future release.

Yes, that is a Giant Chika Nesoberi.

Several other Girls und Panzer Nesoberi slated for future release.

Mutsu finally joins Nagato as a prize figure.

Together with several other characters from the Kancolle series who will be produced as prize figures.
Rest of the Event
One figure that really caught my eye was a character from the Sangokushi Taisen Trading Card Game.

If you think she look a lot like Sonico that is because they are both penned by the same artist, Santa Tsuji.

It is remarkable how much she looks like Sonico!

More great Sonico news came in the form of a China Dress Sonico produced by the new company, Emon Toys. I have always wanted this concept and I am glad this new company is willing to take such strides to produce a figure such as this at a 1/7 scale no less. The concept art looks great, I can only hope the final product holds up just as well.

Cocoa is the next to join the series of China Dress figures. Aoba and Hifumi from New Game are slated to get scale figures too.

It would not be WonFes is there were no itasha just lying around, this particular S14 is courtesy of A-Zone.

Union Creative is a company that has recently cropped up on my radar especially since I obtained one of their figures.

They are probably best known for their Prison School figurines.

Although, that is not the only series they have invested in.

AmiAmi is often a presence at WonFes. There, they are often seen selling exclusive merchandise.

Gashapon machines, many, many of them!

Nearing the end of the day, many attendees have started to vacate the hall. Indeed this season's WonFes was a little quieter than usual.

Several life-size figues which were scarily well detailed.

Not eager to be outshone by the other cars present, Type Moon Racing showed up with in a McLaren 570S Spider.

Although, the car looked rather unused and untouched. A rental probably?

Noire in a swimsuit anyone? She is also available in a standing version.

Gamers could not have picked a better ambassador for their Sunshine campaign.

Broccoli will be tasked with making the figure of this collaboration.

More of Broccoli's fine work.

Black Heart's Next form will be getting a figure soon.

Neptunia's figures are always a sight to behold.

It is a pity they only focus on her and, at times, Noire/Black Heart. The other characters certainly have marketing potential too.

A garage kit Tanya. While I do have several pictures of the garage kits section, I have chosen to omit them from this coverage. In the future, I plan to spend more time in the garage kits section to really get a better feel of everything.

At precisely 5 o'clock, the bells rang, the audience applauded and the event officially came to an end. Summer Wonder Festival 2017 was only the second time I have had the privilege of attending the event and I must say it was a stark contrast to my first visit. Where the first time I went back in 2016, the halls were packed and several surprise releases were announced. Not to mention, the lighting, projectors and screens made it feel like a real spectacle. In contrast, Summer 2017's Wonder Festival felt a lot more toned back with considerably less exhibits as well as attendees. Nevertheless, I still had a great time at the event and am looking forward to attending it again next year. Until then, thank you so much for reading and have yourself a wonderful day ahead!
