Plot is Fine Too
Fresh out from behind bars since our venture last time, I return to find the next topic will be about... plot. Yes... what could Possibly go wrong...
There has been many a debate about plot vs justice. Some argue the superiority of rich, ample plot, while others champion wholesome justice. Me? If you put a gun to my head and want me to pick between the extreme ends of the two. I'd probly pick justice, as too much plot seems more of a burden than it's worth. BUT! A world without justice is just unregulated anarchy! And one without plot would be static and uninventive! They are both aspects we can wholeheartedly strive for in balance and whichever path you walk can make this beautiful world that much more worth living in. We all have our preferences but all should be respected. Alternatively, you could pick Raphtalia.
But back onto the main plot, that being the topic this week I will chime my opinion on plot in anime. Heavy plot has been a staple in anime for awhile now since the 2000s, sparking many a contention between them and advocates of justice, and at times got really out of hand. The recent trend towards more modest designs these days fit more up my alley, but maybe that's just me. If you ever miss good ol' plot, a trip to Tawawaland should remedy that easily enough.
For a more recent example of a character with ample plot and even bigger personality, look no further than Secretary Fujiwara Chika herself. The embodiment of entropy itself, Chika is a ball of random energy so unpredictable her two supergenius level bosses have long since gave up on trying to predict what she will do, when she will show up, and how she will torpedo whatever complex tower of cards they have carefully built. When she comes out with something, someone is gonna get burnt and sent home crying, sometimes its one of the two warring lovebirds, sometimes its Chika herself, it might be literally everyone in the room, you can never tell with her. Coupled with a hilariously good performance by Konomi Kohara (and the entire cast, really), there is nary a dull moment with her. She has more than enough plot to go around yes, but it'd be best dig too much into that, despite how Chika looks, she is not quite the forgiving sort.
