Dia Strap Showcase
Dia charms galore! As with the challenge for this week, I'll be showcasing my own collection of character straps. The rule is simple: only one character! So if your collection ranges around five straps per character, but you have tons of characters, unfortunately, you can't show them all off. Thankfully for me, I have 14 Dia straps! I have maybe 1 for each other character like Hamakaze and Erina but Dia takes precedence! Without further ado, in no specific order, let's get to it!
Starting things off is Dia in her infamous Mai Mai Tonight outfit. Being a traditional Japanese garb, it's no wonder Dia pulls this look off far too well. She's even slumped down in a cutesy yet alluring way. I'm going to be honest, this isn't her cutest look but it's certainly a strong contender simply because it's a fan favourite. Now, I'm not too sure when I actually got this strap but I can assure you it was one of the first few I managed to snag.
Echoing the first outfit, this too represents something more traditional than some of her other outfits which allows her charm to pull the look off. I mean, aside from that cute little smile she's giving. It's not that the smile ruins the look but Dia's grace usually comes without the need for an open mouth grin.
Something a little different. I have a few of these acrylic charms aside from the regular rubber straps and while I don't prefer the hardness and potential to damage, I still got them anyway because...I mean, look! I'd waste thousands of yen to grab pom-pom Dia from a crane machine!
Ahhh. Maid Dia. It is a killer combination but this particular design doesn't quite fit my taste. I've mentioned before that I love Dia's eyes the most and this approach to her design completely throws that aspect out the window. It's definitely more kawaii though!
Dia and a puppy! Of course this is something fantastically awesome! I mean, not as fantastically awesome as Dia holding a penguin but still super cute. I love how they allowed her hair to generously drop behind her, creating a more voluminous look to the chibi design. I also like her rather straight, neutral pose, akin to posing for a family photo. It's one of the more expensive straps on the list but it's also one of the better ones. And her eyes! That's the sharp look I adore!
Aha! This is the cute one from a special set that's not easily found around Tokyo. I was actually gifted this by snwlprd (he gifted quite a few of the straps in my collection) and it was definitely quite the find. The slimmer limbs and rounded head give off a more cartoony look which I like to call the Disney look. It Disney-fies Dia. Wait. Does this mean she's a Disney princess....?
Halloween special! Being a seductive vampire certainly tingles my body but one can't help but wonder why didn't they go with Witch Dia much like one of her other card designs. She had a pretty dress and the whole dark and mysterious bit would have suited her character. But I can't complain. Vampires like to suck.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe this is the Hanbok that she's wearing, the Korean traditional outfit. It definitely leans towards a more masculine look but that's not necessarily a bad thing for Dia. Her charm allows her to pull off even that kind of look in my opinion.
Drying her hair Dia! Oh wow, that's actually a weird name to call this strap. But that's what she's doing! While that's cute and all, I generally hate looking at wet hair (if that's an actual phobia, let me know) and this triggers all sorts of warnings in my head. But because it's Dia, I'm willing to endure. Cute, but scary.
Ooo la la. Just look at the way she's posing as well. The pose would have worked with any sort of dress in actuality as long as the design allowed for dancing to happen. One look at her and you feel like dancing too!
The Parisian look (I apologise if I'm wrong). I've seen this look on characters and 3D individuals many times around and it never fails to disappoint. A cozy shawl, a stylish beret and a cute, frilled skirt. It's a very girly look, well suited to an idol.
Now instead of winning Dia from a crane game, she's winning a cat from her own in-universe crane game! And she's absolutely ecstatic about it! Whoever decided on the hearts deserves a raise! It's a strap full of love directed inwardly. Unique, adorable and approved!
BUNNY DIA. Now, I know most of you are going to point out the casino theme and say 'Playboy' but I'd have you know that Playboy bunnies wear leather and fishnet stockings. Dia's clearly the dealer working during a cosplay event. Yes, she's not cosplaying an actual bunny but who the hecks wants to see that! Look at her adorably-more-suited-to-a-cat pose!
Finally, we reach pajamas Dia!! The final strap to showcase in this post (one of the first few I got actually) happens to be the rare pajamas Dia. Try as you might, it's not easy to come across this one. It's a very simply design but look at that hair! An innocent look, hands behind the back and a big show of her hair. I did say these aren't arranged in any order but pajamas Dia has always been one of my favourite of her looks and this strap certainly feeds into that.
That's...actually it! Yeah, I just did a count. All 14 accounted for. I was pretty gung-ho about collecting every single Dia strap there was in the world but I realised very soon that that would have meant living in a cardboard box and decided against it. If I ever receive it as a gift or happen upon one then sure, I'll definitely add it to the collection. There can never be too many Dias in my room after all.
