Figure Wishlist - Nendoroid Atago

Hello everyone and welcome back to Tiro Finale for another chapter of Figure Wishlist. Today, we will be taking at Good Smile Company's recently announced, Nendoroid Atago, a figure that I have been waiting for much too long. Just like Takao featured before this, Atago to has been on my wishlist of characters to be turned into a Nendoroid and after much wait, that wish has finally come to fruition.

Of course, it is one thing for a wish to come to fruition. But a completely different thing to ensure that said figure lives up to expectations too. Among many Kancolle fans, Takao may very well be the more popular one among the Takao-class sisters. But ever since the inception of the browser game, I have always been more partial towards Atago both in terms of her character design and personality.

Both Atago and Takao sport similarly themed officer outfits while, sporting almost identical armaments. In fact, even their figure is not too dissimilar with both sisters having very envious figures among the Fleet Girls. The biggest difference between the two sisters lie in their personality, one being carefree and cheerful (Atago) with the other portrayed as more stern and responsible (Takao). Of course, both ships/girls have their fair share of fans and who you root for is ultimately your own volition. Or you could do what I do and root for them both!

Speaking of armaments, both Takao and Atago are announced at a pivotal moment of Nendoroid development as their rotating cannons employ a unique sliding system which allows a great deal of articulation for the turrets. I would like to believe this is the reason it took Good Smile Company so long to release the two as Nendoroid(s) but, truthfully, we will never know.

Just like her sister, Takao, Atago too comes with a few character-unique accessories for her Nendoroid including an Aichi E13A seaplane and o-toso sake set. The latter of which is certainly a unique touch that both sisters share in common, that being an alcoholic beverage. Aside from the usual, Atago also includes a bonus stand and box sleeve if you pre-order from Good Smile Company's Online Store.

All of that and more, is in an effort to convince you to part with 6,389 Yen of your hard earned cash. Atago is scheduled for a June 2019 release, one month after Takao which should ease the financial burden on those planning to get them both. And yes, Good Smile Company does indeed intend for you to get them both. Why? As if the close release date and pre-order announcements are not close enough. Atago also comes included with a hand holding part which allows her to link arms with Takao, just like the Wonderful Hobby Selection figure.

The pre-order window for Atago closes on the 10th of January 2019. Fortunately for me, that is one window I will not be chasing as both Takao and Atago are no longer on my wish list. Instead, they are now on my waiting list. From now till the next 6 months, it will just be a simple waiting game and hoping that Good Smile does not delay the figures too much. Until then, thank you so much for reading and have yourself a wonderful day ahead!
