Nesoberi (Plush Strap) Nero Claudius Review

Hello everyone and welcome back to Tiro Finale for more Nesoberi goodness! Rather than another chapter of Nesoberi Chronicles, today we will be bringing you a full review of Sega's Nesoberi Nero Claudius which was released sometime in the middle of this year. Unlike our usual affinity for the larger Mega Jumbo Nesoberi, we will instead be taking a look at the more pint-sized Nesoberi Plush Straps which, believe it or not, are the true progenitor of the Nesoberi series.

While the Mega Jumbo Nesoberi(s) certainly made a huge impact in the collectors market, their popularity eventually plateaued off likely due to their large size. In their place, the more diminutive size Nesoberi Plush Straps have begun to pick up steam once more and see much more frequent releases compared to its larger sibling. The smaller size does not only make it much easier to collect but, they are also heaps more practical and portable. As such, it is not an uncommon sight to see one or more of these plush straps being used as bag charms.

Despite just measuring 160mm in length, the Nesoberi Plush Straps do not skimp out in the detailing department. In fact, they more than make up for it with details and finishing comparable to that of the significantly larger Mega Jumbo Nesoberi(s). With that in mind, it is not hard to see why these Nesoberi straps can fetch prices close to or even more than their Mega Jumbo counterparts!

Together with the reduced scale, proportions are also altered in a rather noticeable manner. Where the larger Mega Jumbo ones often mimic human proportions fairly well enabling it to emulate a large variety of emotions from anger to happiness, the small ones are just true and true cute. They are almost like younger versions of their larger Mega Jumbo siblings where they will eventually grow up to be that size too!

Just like the original Nero Mega Jumbo Nesoberi that we reviewed a while back, Sega has done its best to try and replicate as many of Nero's key character points as much as they can. Starting with Nero's hair, we have both her signature ahoge (idiot hair) and hair bun. Fun fact, the band around her bun is actually made like a scrunchy hair band and can be partially removed.

Nero's outfit is faithful to her original design while being a like for like miniaturization of the one seen in the Mega Jumbo Nesoberi. It would have been unrealistic to expect all the buckles and buttons to be actual pieces, as it is rightfully just a single piece of printed fabric. In the smaller plush strap size, this is far less of a compromise and actually looks the part.

From her sleeves all the way to the hem of her dress, Nero's bright red dress has been reproduced as closely as possible. All while emulating particular details such as her shoulder pads and see through fabric. The latter is especially significant as it makes up a large portion of her outfit.

The shade of red used by Sega for Nero's outfit is slightly darker compared to the brighter red of the Mega Jumbo version. This change in tone helps to give it a more subdued look. Though, you would be hard pressed to notice it at a glance and should hardly be a deal breaker in your decision to get either. On an unrelated note, do you see the little stitch on Nero's mid section which helps to secure her dress in place? Neat touch is it not?

The large red ribbon at the back of Nero's outfit her is present to! While it certainly carries much more presence in the Mega Jumbo version simply on the merits of being a larger scale, the ribbon here is no less of a nice inclusion too. That being said, this is perhaps one of the areas you might want to look out for if you are planning to use Nero as an actual plush strap as things may get snagged on the the ribbon itself.

There are currently three iterations of Nero's Nesoberi, two are Mega Jumbo sized and one is this plush strap sized one. Aside from differing designs, they also represent different part of the Fate Extella series. They are all still the same Umu Nero that we have come to know and love though.

Nero's golden boots are yellow stubs here as you would come to expect from a Nesoberi. An additional piece of fabric is added onto the front of her legs to emphasize the ornamental armor nature of her boots. No doubt, a design carried forth from the Mega Jumbo version too.

In more ways than one, the Nesoberi Plush Strap version of Nero Claudius is an effective down-scale of the Mega Jumbo version of the Roman Emperor. Yet at the same time, it hold much of its own merits and unique characteristics too. The smaller more compact proportions lend to a much cuter appearance and Nero's smiling expression just serves to compliment that. All in all, if you have hesitations on getting this version owing to its smaller size, do not, as it is every bit as good as the Mega Jumbo one.

Usually, this is where I put an end to my review and bid you adieu. But things are different this time as Nero is just the first part of a trilogy of Nesoberi reviews that I will be putting forth over the coming month. You can already tell who the next two are but, the question is who will be next? What do you think? Let me know in the comments section below. Until then, thank you so much for reading and I hope you have a great day ahead!
