Figure Wishlist - Nendoroid Takao

Hello everyone and welcome back to Tiro Finale for another edition of Figure Wishlist. Today, we will be taking a look at a figure that has been on my wishlist even before its inception and reveal by Good Smile Company. That is right, today we are taking a look at one of the latest Fleet Girls from Kancolle to become a Nendoroid, the lead-vessel in the Takao-class heavy cruisers, Takao!

Ever since Good Smile Company revealed both the Takao and Atago as part of their Wonderful Hobby Selection series of premium figures, I figured it would only be a matter of time before they were released as Nendoroid. But as weeks turned into months turned into years, nothing materialized. Every month saw new Fleet Girls being released as Nendoroid but, GSC remained mum about Takao and Atago.

Then one faithful day, known as Summer WonFes 2018, Good Smile lifted the veils on its upcoming Kancolle Nendoroids. Finally, the two sisters would be making their long awaited debut as Nendoroids! While I certainly could not contain my excitement, I still maintained an added degree of caution as there were no release dates tied to the newly announced figures so far. Moreover, Atago was only just a concept image at that point and Takao was without her armaments or paint.

Fast forward several months and Good Smile is finally ready to open up Takao's Nendoroid for pre-orders. With prices starting at 6,389 Yen and a release date planned for May 2019, Takao was not going to be cheap and with just 6 months to go before her release, Good Smile has a lot to prove in its final product. Fortunately, what we have seen for far has been mostly impressive with Takao almost looking like a miniature version of her incredible Full Armament Wonderful Hobby Selection version.

It is no surprise that I am longtime fan of both Takao and Atago as they are easily my two favorite Fleet Girls in the Kancolle series for a variety of reasons. As such, you must forgive me for having my share of worries as to whether of not Takao would translate well as a Nendoroid. Fortunately, as Kahotan's closer look has shown us, there is little to worry about! With pre-order windows closing on the 29th of November, fans will have to be quick or risk missing out on the pre-order bonus.

With Takao revealed, it is only natural for Atago to take the center stage next as our next chapter of Figure Wishlist will be focusing on just that, Nendoroid Atago! Until then, thank you so much for reading and have yourself a wonderful day ahead!
